    Description

This listing is for a very unique, hand-made pendant, designed for Civil War relic hunters, metal detecting enthusiasts and history buffs in-general. My name is Leonard Short and I have combined my two careers of goldsmith/jewelry designer and artifact restoration to create a line of metal detecting jewelry. This pendant is the newest addition to my relic hunting category and it is a representation of a 100% Confederate manufactured bullet: the iconic 2-ring Gardner bullet. The Gardner is the most recognizably Confederate-associated bullet from the American Civil War. The Gardner bullet was designed by Frederick J. Gardner of Hillsboro, NC and he was issued Confederate patent number "12" on August 17, 1861. The patented bullet employed a unique flange on the base of the bullet that allowed the paper, powder-filled cartridge to be crimped onto the bullet once compressed in the patented Gardner machine. Other Civil War cartridges had the bullet encased inside the paper cartridge along with the powder. The Gardners were made in 3 calibers: .54, .58 and the much more scarce .69. The bullets were manufactured at the Richmond, Virginia, Augusta Georgia and Charleston, SC Arsenals. An actual dropped .58 caliber 2-ring Gardner bullet that was dug on the battlefield of Cloyd's Mountain in Pulaski County Virginia was used as the model for this pendant. The pendant is smaller scale than the authentic . 58 caliber model bullet, instead measuring roughly .40 caliber.
The bail on this pendant is uniquely crafted with long-term wear in mind. It has an opening that measures 3mm x 6mm in order to accommodate a very substantial chain. In addition, the bail has my signature, hinge mechanism.
If you are in need of a nice sterling silver chain on which to wear the pendant, please check out my other listings. My recommended chain style for my pendant line is a 2.5 mm diameter sterling silver wheat style chain. I have two listings: one for a 20" wheat and one for an 18".
This is a unique pendant design that you will not find anywhere else! I am offering a Buy-It-Now price of .95. Shipping is .85 in the lower 48 States. (Other destinations will require a calculation on shipping).
    INTERNATIONAL BUYERS– PLEASE NOTE:
Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding or buying.
Any purchases made within the State of Virginia must also include 5% Virginia State Sales tax. I am offering a 14 day return policy if not fully satisfied for any reason. For return, customer is responsible for return shipping cost. Please e-mail me with any questions that you may have BEFORE BIDDING. IF YOU LIKE THIS PENDANT DESIGN, PLEASE KEEP AN EYE ON MY OTHER LISTINGS, AS I HAVE BEGUN THE PROCESS OF CREATING AN ENTIRE LINE OF METAL DETECTING AND TREASURE HUNTING-THEMED PENDANTS AND RINGS. I will periodically be adding additional designs to the line as I have time to design and create the master models. Thanks for viewing my listing!
