    The brigade was commanded at the Battle of Gettysburg by Brigadier General Joseph B. Kershaw, a lawyer, Mexican War veteran, judge, and state senator from Camden, South Carolina.
    The monument was erected by “Project Southland” in cooperation with the Gettysburg Battlefield Preservation Association in 1970.
    The monument is located on Emmitsburg Road, in Gettysburg, PA, and was dedicated in 1970.
